Facebook Live wants to walk on the beds of Twitch

Facebook's live video tool becomes accessible on computer and targets juvenile streaming. An activity whose platform Twitch has become the specialist.

Until now, Facebook's live video feature was only available on the mobile app. The social network has just announced that it deployed it on computer. The tool is already available. Just access its news feed and create a publication: a new tab "Live Video" has appeared.
But Facebook especially opened the possibility for all to launch a streaming of its computer screen from a broadcast software. Previously, this feature was only possible for Facebook Pages administrators.

A new competitor for Twitch

The goal is clear: video game streaming. "If you're a gamer, this new tool makes it easier than ever to share your games with friends and followers," said Erin Connolly, Product Manager, and Jeff Hendy, Software Engineer at Facebook.

Users will be able to stream the video into Facebook groups or events to which they belong.

Now to see if the new service will actually compete with the video platform for gamers Twitch which claims on its site 9.7 million active users every day and more than 2 million different broadcasters per month.

Especially as Google has already tackled the same target with the launch in the summer of 2015 of YouTube Gaming, with an application available on Android and iOS since the beginning of the year in France.
